   2016 Drawing To A Close

2016 has been a year of research and attempting to bring some products to market. There hasn't been much activity on the site due to life, vacation, family and real world day to day distractions. Not much advance in the production plans for the kits, however I will make a decision in the new year to proceed with efforts to produce kits or continue with just the plans offering and expanding in that area.  We'll move forward along our current path and see what the next twelve months brings in the world of simulation. Enjoy

VR is Here

Virtual Reality has advanced to the point that it is fast becoming one of the standard platforms for flight simulation. The experience is quite unique and is a huge leap in flight simulation.

You feel that you are actually seated in the aircraft and not just looking at a computer screen. This technology is a fantastic development for the home simulator enthusiast in that it actually changing you room into and aircraft complete with outside scenery.

Virtual reality covers just about all type activities including RPG, racing, work simulation, 3D movies and much more. But for this particular article flight simulation is the center of our attention.

Currently we can say that VR flight simulation is in it's infancy but even now the resulting experience is fantastic. another reality is that the equipment is expensive as I will list some current headsets in this article with current prices as of the date of this article.

At this point I think there is no way to fully describe the experience so I'm linking to several videos of VR flight to give some insight and views of others who have and are using this technology. This is the next level, you can tell by the enthusiasm and amazement.

This link is VR flying in Aerofly FS 2 which is almost on par with FSX.

A side by side image on the monitor is shown on some flights. It is actually 3D in flight. As stated earlier below are the VR headsets that support the sims shown and current prices.

The Oculus rift was the first on the market with the consumer version of the Oculus Rift called the CV1. It retails for approximately $499 which is a recent drop in it's $599 price. It also has a set of hand controllers  for an additional $99 down from $199.

The HTC Vive is another VR headset that works for flight simulation. It comes complete with game controllers and can also be set up for room size gaming.. Current price is $799.

To get the full VR experience a pretty beefy gaming type PC is required, specs for VR can be googled on the net.

One last thing, our KwikPit which is easily built from our plans set is the perfect companion to VR flight. It provides the perfect platform for all your controls  for VR and non VR simming. Check it out and order a set of plans today!
